Regis Resources engaged Cube Consulting

Regis Resources engaged Cube Consulting

Challenge:

Regis Resources Limited (Regis) is a Perth based company that produced 300,000 ounces of gold in the 2015/16 financial year. Regis operates three gold mining operations (the Moolart Well Gold Project, the Garden Well Gold Project and the Rosemont Gold Project) in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
Along with the Western Australian operations, Regis is also conducting feasibility studies into developing the McPhillamys Gold Project in the Central Western region of New South Wales.
In January 2015, there was a requirement to appoint a new Competent Person to estimate the Ore Reserves for the Regis operations in Western Australia.

Solution:

After a recommendation from a financier, Regis Resources engaged Quinton de Klerk from Cube Consulting as the Competent Person as defined in the JORC Code 2012 to update the 2015 Ore Reserves. A mine visit was organised and Quinton de Klerk, Director and Principal Mining Engineer and Mick Vroombout, Director immediately began working with the Regis team. As a part of appointing a new consultant, a complete review of all input data used in the Ore Reserve estimation process was conducted. This fresh, first principles approach resulted in the identification of existing and potential issues which were immediately discussed, quantified and resolved.

Benefits:

  • The Cube Consulting team are able to work together with existing in-house experts very productively.
  • The practical approach brought a fresh set of eyes to an existing situation.
  • Genuine respect between all parties.
