Training & Mentoring

We provide training on grade control, reconciliation, underground and open pit mining and geological reporting.

Mine geology training

Whenever you get a Cube geologist to your mine site, it’s an opportunity to get your site-based geologists some real situational training and mentoring. This may be around geological mapping and interpretation, or it might be training for best practice grade control modelling. We provide training on grade control, reconciliation, underground and open pit mining and geological reporting. Our aim is to provide our clients with the best possible advice and solutions to a broad range of complex geological problems – it may be that we need to do the job, or it may be that we teach someone how to do the job, working alongside them to transfer skills and knowledge.

Onsite, on the job training

As part of the implementation of any of our mining systems, we offer comprehensive onsite training using your data. This ensures that firstly, you understand the principles behind the system and secondly, you understand how it works in your situation. This might mean the training needs to extend outside the area of focus – for example, grade control training may need to cover concepts of geostatistics to ensure your geologists are confident in the system they are using.

Practical advice for geologists

In these leaner times, mining operations are running with fewer staff. You may find that your geological staff are struggling to cope after a promotion or with increased responsibility. They may require technical mentoring or have the geological skills but require help managing people, contractors or coping with corporate requests. At Cube Consulting, we have a number of staff who have been in a Geology Manager role on mine sites and who can bring a wealth and variety of experience to younger geologists. They combine their years of experience in mining companies with geological skills and practical advice. Our geologists all have extensive operational experience, have worked in a wide variety of commodities and at both open cut and underground mining.

Our mentoring service can be as formal as you require. This could involve a number of engagements over an extended period or may be an intense site-based program. You may have a specific problem that needs addressing or you require a fresh perspective from a more experienced geologist – we are here to help.
